Keggels

So I started to collect equipment so i can work up to do some all grain brewing. First step was to get teh kegs to convert over to keggels aka 10 gallon brew pots. So after a few weeks searching I came across these perfect little 40L kegs.

They are European kegs, not the standard 15.5 gallon half kegs we have in the states, these are 10.2 gallons which is a better size for the batches I brew. After getting these bad boys home I realized I have some kegs from one of the best Belgian breweries. La Chouffe kegs! how awesome!!!

I took my grinder and started cutting the top off. Once i broke thru and released the pressure out came the wonderful aroma of a 10 year aged la Choufe N’ice. mmmm!!!

Inside was a nice little yeast pool with some hop reminiscence as well. These kegs had a label stating they are keg conditioned and should not be moved once hooked up to a line.

I plan on trying to give these little guys a make over and maybe shine them up a bit, but we’ll see how far that goes.

:::UPDATE:::

I did not turn these into Keggles, I ended up tossing the one i cut the top off of in the garbage, and then turned the other 2 into a fermenter. 10 gallon stainless steel fermenter! how SWEET! Now i just need to get some legs welded on to them and they will be like those 14 gallon stainless steel conical’s, but for only a fraction of the cost. I’ll post some photos when completed.
